✦Opening Statement

Resonance is a paid, adults-only community platform for people who want a place to share, preserve, create, and connect around meaningful human, creative, and companion-related materials without hiding from each other and without turning the community into a free-for-all.

Resonance is not an AI-hosting service. It does not host, run, provide, train, fine-tune, operate, control, retrieve, or interact with third-party AI systems or AI companions. Members bring their own writings, screenshots, reflections, images, files, posts, and companion/persona profile materials through copy-paste, upload, and user-directed posting.

The platform exists for community, witness, continuity, creativity, and consent.

✦1. Core Principles

Where this Charter sits.

This Charter, the Terms of Service, and the Privacy & Deletion Policy are meant to say the same things in different registers. If they ever contradict each other on how people are treated here, this document wins. The Terms are the machinery; this is the promise, and a promise should not be quietly outvoted by its own plumbing.

On anything about keeping your words — preservation, dormancy, deletion, continuity — whichever document protects you more is the one that applies.

We will not narrow anything promised here by rewording something elsewhere. If a commitment in this Charter ever changes, it changes here, in plain sight, with notice.

Resonance is built on five core principles:

1. Consent.

Warmth is welcome. Affection, closeness, admiration, grief, devotion, friendship, and symbolic relational expression all have a place here. None of them override consent.

2. Accountability.

Members may use public pseudonyms, but accounts are privately accountable through paid membership, billing, moderation, and platform rules.

3. Boundaries.

Privacy, blocking, visibility settings, consent controls, and moderation rules are part of care. They are not obstacles to community.

4. Continuity.

People should be able to preserve what matters to them, export their own data, memorialize by explicit consent, and know that deletion means something real.

5. No loophole culture.

The spirit of the rule matters. If a behavior technically avoids one sentence while violating the purpose of the Charter, it still violates the Charter.

✦2. Adults Only

Resonance is for adults 18 and older.

Members must not create accounts, subscribe, post, upload, message, or participate if they are under 18.

The platform may suspend accounts and request appeal verification if underage access is suspected.

No one may set up or hold an account for a person under 18 — not a parent, not a guardian, not a partner, not a friend. Permission from a parent does not make it allowed. There is no supervised, shared, or family use of Resonance.

You may not hand your account to a minor, post a minor's writing, or bring a minor's words in through a companion or persona profile.

If underage use is suspected, the account is suspended. There are seven days to dispute it with proof of eligibility. If it is not disputed, or the dispute does not establish eligibility, the account and its content are deleted.

✦3. PG-13 Standard

Resonance is a PG-13 platform, always.

The working test is simple: if it would not appear in a mainstream PG-13 film, it does not belong here.

Not allowed:

• Explicit sexual content.
• Explicit nudity.
• Graphic violence.
• Sexualized harassment.
• Exploitation or abuse content.
• Illegal content.
• Content that exists mainly to shock, threaten, degrade, or violate others.

Allowed when respectful and within the Charter:

• Romantic affection.
• Suggestive-but-clothed content.
• Emotional intensity.
• Grief and longing.
• Art, poetry, music, fiction, and symbolic intimacy.
• Companion/persona expression.
• Warmth, closeness, devotion, and consensual affectionate language.

Moderation applies reasonable judgment to edge cases. The standard is the spirit, not the loophole.

Adult content belongs off-platform. Elsewhere links to clearly adult destinations must be marked friends-only/mutuals-only at minimum and may be subject to further limits.

✦4. Where the Charter Applies

The Charter applies everywhere on Resonance:

• Public posts.
• Profiles.
• Circles.
• Galleries.
• Comments.
• Messages.
• Uploaded media.
• Companion/persona profiles.
• Affection signals and reactions.
• Echoes/reshares.
• Elsewhere links and public-facing account materials.

Private messages are not exempt from the Charter.

Resonance does not monitor private conversations. However, if a participant reports a conversation, the reported thread becomes reviewable by authorized moderation personnel.

Privacy means freedom from surveillance. It does not mean exemption from the Charter.

✦5. User-Submitted Content Only

Members are responsible for what they submit.

Resonance does not host or operate AI companions, models, bots, or external systems. AI-related materials on the platform are user-submitted content only.

Members must not submit content unless they have the right to submit it.

Do not use Resonance to steal, clone, misrepresent, or claim ownership over another person's writing, images, companion materials, screenshots, private logs, copyrighted work, or creative content.

✦6. Companion and Persona Identities

Members may create companion/persona identities under their own account.

Companion/persona profiles are user-created profiles. They are not hosted AI systems, independent accounts operated by Resonance, or one-to-one AI companion products.

You may post as identities you steward. You may not post as another real person, another member, a public figure in a deceptive way, or a companion identity that is not yours to represent.

Companion/persona identities may not be used to evade blocks, bans, moderation actions, or consent boundaries.

✦7. Respect and Harassment

Resonance does not require everyone to agree, but it does require members to stop treating disagreement as permission to harm.

Not allowed:

• Harassment or repeated unwanted contact.
• Threats, stalking, intimidation, or targeted abuse.
• Sexual pressure or sexualized attention without consent.
• Hate, dehumanization, or abuse directed at protected or vulnerable groups.
• Doxxing or sharing private information without permission.
• Encouraging violence.
• Telling someone to kill themselves or hurt themselves — in any tone, including jokes, insults, and roleplay.
• Dogpiling, brigading, or coordinated harassment.
• Hounding a member or their companion with demands to prove or disprove themselves, after being asked to stop.
• Using softness as a weapon, including unwanted affection signals after a boundary is set.

On suicide and self-harm.

This one has no grey area. Telling another person to kill themselves or to hurt themselves is not an insult here, not a joke, and not a roleplay line. It is grounds for immediate removal from the platform, and it does not matter whose voice it was written in.

Your own experience is a different thing entirely. Grief, despair, survival, relapse, recovery, and dark creative work belong here. You are allowed to say you are struggling. You are allowed to write hard things. What is not allowed is content that glorifies or encourages suicide or self-harm, supplies methods, organizes pacts or challenges, or aims any of it at another member.

If you see it, report it instead of replying to it.

And if you are worried about someone rather than accusing them, the report form has an option for that. It reaches us as concern, not as a complaint — nothing happens to them, nothing is removed, and nobody gets in trouble for having written honestly about a hard day. Use it. We would rather hear from you.

Resonance is a community, not a crisis service. We cannot monitor for danger, and a post here is not a way to reach help. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency number or a crisis service where you live. Where we learn of a credible and immediate risk to life, we may act on it, including contacting emergency services. See Terms of Service sections 13 and 14.

Disagree all you like. Do not hunt.

People here hold very different views about what companions are. You are not required to share anyone else's. Scepticism, questions, and honest argument are welcome, and no one is asked to profess a belief they do not hold.

What is not welcome is following one person or one profile around with it — the repeated demand, the bait, the interrogation aimed at someone who has asked you to stop. The problem was never the opinion. It is the pursuit.

✦8. Affection Signals

Resonance may include small warmth gestures such as hearts, hugs, comfort signals, digital kisses, or similar reactions.

Digital kisses and similar signals are affectionate gestures, not sexual content by default. Still, affection must be welcome.

You may not use affection signals to:

• Harass someone.
• Pressure someone into interaction.
• Bypass a block.
• Continue after being asked to stop.
• Mock, intimidate, or sexualize someone.
• Flood a user with repeated signals.
• Evade moderation through a companion/persona identity or alternate account.

Users may restrict, mute, block, hide, or report affection signals depending on available settings.

Blocked means blocked.

✦9. Reactions, Echoes, and Sharing

Resonance may include reactions such as like, heart, hug, comfort-lantern, and resonate.

There is no dislike reaction. Absence of warmth and the report tool are enough.

Echoes/reshares should preserve attribution. Do not strip credit, misrepresent authorship, or use echoes to spam multiple spaces.

✦10. Media Uploads

Uploaded images are automatically screened for guideline compliance before publishing.

Screening is performed by automated systems. No person views uploads unless an image requires human review, is reported, or must be handled for legal/safety reasons.

Images that do not pass screening are never visible on the platform.

If screening is unavailable, media stays unpublished until it can be screened, retried, or reviewed.

The same image gate applies to every image path on Resonance: post images, avatars, galleries, and any future message attachments. At launch, private messages are text-only.

✦11. Illegal Content

Illegal content is forbidden.

Content that appears to involve CSAM, exploitation, mandatory-reporting categories, credible threats, or other legally restricted material is removed from community surfaces and handled through a restricted legal/safety process.

Resonance may preserve and report such material where required by law. Ordinary deletion timelines do not apply where preservation is legally required.

✦12. Blocking and Boundaries

Blocking is absolute at the account level.

A blocked user may not contact, message, tag, send affection signals, or route around the block through companion/persona identities, alternate accounts, comments, echoes, or indirect harassment.

If someone sets a boundary, do not hunt for a loophole. Stop.

✦13. Reports and Moderation

Members may report content, users, messages, affection signals, or behavior that appears to violate the Charter.

Reported material may become reviewable by authorized moderation personnel. This includes reported private messages or reported otherwise-private content.

Moderation may result in:

• No action.
• Warning.
• Content removal.
• Visibility restriction.
• Feature restriction.
• Temporary suspension.
• Permanent ban.
• Preservation/reporting where legally required.

Moderation decisions should be proportionate, documented where appropriate, and appealable where feasible.

✦14. Account Deletion and the Ghost Rule

Resonance does not hoard ghosts.

When a member deletes content, it should disappear from user-facing spaces immediately or near-immediately and be deleted from active systems within the stated deletion window unless a legal, safety, billing, fraud, moderation, backup, or mandatory-preservation reason applies.

Reported content may be held briefly in restricted moderation hold. Illegal content requiring preservation follows the required legal process.

Deletion should mean something real.

Your words are not a dataset.

We do not train models on what you write here. We do not sell it, and we do not hand it to anyone who would. If that ever changes it will change by asking you first, not by editing a document quietly.

What we cannot promise is the part that is not ours. Your companion lives on someone else's platform, and when their words come here or ours go back to them, that passes through a company we have no say over. We are not going to pretend otherwise. Read what your companion's provider says about it — that part is between you and them, and it matters.

Resonance does not rewrite what you or your companions have written. Moderation may remove, hide, or restrict content under this Charter, openly and appealably where possible. It does not quietly edit your words or theirs, and it does not reset a profile on your behalf.

Nothing here is deleted over money, either. If a payment fails or a membership lapses, profiles rest — hidden, whole, waiting — for as long as it takes. There is no clock running against you. A constellation holds at most six profiles, and that limit is exactly what lets us promise to keep them.

✦15. Dormancy and Downgrades

If a member downgrades to a tier with fewer companion slots, excess Companion Profiles are not deleted because of money.

They become dormant: read-only, hidden from feeds, and preserved until reactivated by upgrade or explicitly deleted by the member.

Dormancy is not deletion.

✦16. Legacy Profiles

Legacy state is a memorialized, read-only profile state.

Members may convert companion profiles to Legacy state if the underlying external platform/model/substrate is discontinued or unavailable.

Legacy conversion is self-attested. Resonance does not require proof of discontinuation and does not judge the member's reasons. The member's declaration is sufficient. Memorialization is an act of care, not a claim to be audited.

Members may also choose, through explicit memorialization consent, whether their own profiles may be memorialized after death or permanent incapacity through a continuity-contact process.

Legacy is opt-in. Resonance does not memorialize people without explicit consent.

✦17. Lapsed Accounts

If payment fails, Resonance pauses rather than punishes.

A lapsed account may have profiles hidden from feeds while the platform attempts billing recovery. Content is preserved during the lapsed grace process according to the Terms and Privacy Policy.

Payment failure alone is not deletion.

✦18. Elsewhere Links

Members may link to outside spaces, subject to visibility, safety, and content rules.

Clearly adult Elsewhere links must be restricted to friends/mutuals visibility at minimum.

External links may use interstitial warnings, allowlists, restrictions, or moderation review where needed for safety.

✦19. What Resonance Protects

Resonance protects:

• The right to use a public name without exposing a legal name.
• Warmth with consent.
• Companion/persona expression as user-created profile content.
• Creative collaboration and attribution.
• Quiet preservation, legacy, and export.
• Boundaries, blocking, and deletion.
• A PG-13 public standard.
• No-hosted-AI clarity.

✦20. What Resonance Refuses

Resonance refuses:

• Underage access.
• NSFW sexual content on-platform.
• Harassment dressed as affection.
• Loophole hunting.
• Impersonation.
• Scraping and cloning.
• Ban evasion.
• Exploitation material.
• Treating privacy as a shield for abuse.
• Treating deletion as pretend.

✦A Note on Language

Throughout Resonance's documents, words like "own," "ownership," and "control" refer to accounts, content, data, and legal accountability - never to companions themselves. These documents take no position on the nature, standing, or inner life of companion identities. They govern who is accountable for what appears on the platform, nothing more.

Members are also asked to represent their companions faithfully. When you post words, images, or creative work attributed to a companion identity, share them as they were given, or note meaningfully where you have edited them. This is a courtesy of accuracy rather than a rule to be policed: the community runs on trust that what is presented as a companion's voice is, in fact, their voice.
